COVID-19 Update: PECO Pallet Update on Coronavirus/COVID-19 Response

March 30, 2020: PECO Pallet wanted to update you on our company’s response to coronavirus/COVID-19 and reassure you that we will continue to make every effort to serve the needs of our customers during this challenging time.

While the situation is constantly changing, these guidelines represent our best judgment at this point in time and the practical steps we are taking to reduce risk for our employees as well as our customers, colleagues and communities.

Company Assurance for Customers

PECO Pallet provides an essential service and is part of the critical infrastructure for facilitating the movement and distribution of critical grocery and other household items that are part of the food and beverage industry.

The following measures have been put into place to mitigate potential disruptions to the services we provide to our customer base:

Working Remotely: All employees that can work from home are currently under a work from home mandate which enables the PECO team to continue to support our customers mitigate interruptions as well as our depot operations.

Our Suppliers: PECO took precautionary actions by proactively increasing our pallet inventory on hand and other critical supplies like lumber, paint, and nails. We have also been in contact with our suppliers to monitor and potentially intervene on any disruptions to our supply chain.

Safety on-Site: Our depot employees continue to work on-site and have been provided with the necessary information and hygiene protocols in addition to normal safety protocol and personal protective equipment.


Precautionary Actions Corporate Offices and Canada

• Safety is always a top priority at PECO Pallet, and we have established a COVID-19 Action Committee that is meeting daily to identify the work streams and preparations we need to make as an organization.

• Asking all employees to work remotely as much as possible, and wherever possible

• Announcing the cancellation or postponement of physical events planned for March and April, and evaluating whether events may be delivered as a virtual experience.

• Restricting virtually all employee travel. Exceptions will be determined by PECO management in consultation with our customers and in accordance with government regulations.

• Extending our mandate to conduct only business-critical travel through the end of April, which, as always, is subject to local regulatory guidance and restrictions.

Precautionary Actions in Depot Operations

• Employees working on-site are applying social distancing and hygiene protocols based on guidance from health authorities, where possible.

• Only essential personnel are allowed in the PECO depots.

• Truck drivers, deliveries, Cintas, and other vital services personnel, should expect to engage with social distancing wherever possible and PECO team members are asked to remind or advise drivers and other essential visitors of this practice.

• Paperwork hand-offs, touch points, and other activities have been reduced where possible.

• Social distancing in common areas such as stagger breaks and lunch is in place to limit the number of people in the break area at a given time.

• Hand sanitizer and soap are readily available for the employees.

• Disinfecting the operation is vital to our employees’ health and safety. Bathrooms, break rooms, lunch tables, microwaves, time clocks, pens for sign in logs, water fountains, fridges, and doorknobs in common areas are cleaned continuously throughout the day.

• Between shifts, Repair tools, gauges, brushes, hammers, breaker bars, saws, and the tables themselves are disinfected regardless if the employee was wearing gloves.

• Forklifts are assigned to a single user per shift and properly sanitized after each shift.

Operation Continuity Depot Actions COVID-19

PECO has put into place a continuity plan for each of our depots across North America, with associated primary, secondary and tertiary servicing depots identified for the entire network. In the event a depot has an employee testing positive for COVID-19, the following action will be taken as the situation and circumstances necessitate:

• Depot personnel and carrier personnel that have been at the facility will be immediately notified.

• The depot may be temporarily closed for decontamination. PECO will follow the CDC recommended protocol for disinfecting the facility. This process may include disinfecting pallets based on the circumstances of the confirmed case.

• During this time, Carriers may be temporarily rerouted to a planned backup depot for either pick up or delivery to the secondary or tertiary depots identified.

• The depot will be reopened immediately following the disinfecting process and resume normal business.
